Happenings:

UIL TRYOUTS:  UIL Tryouts start this week!  Tryout information was sent home last week.  Please help your child review and study materials over the weekend/before the tryouts so they can come in prepared.  Remind your student before school on the morning of their tryout to listen for the announcement.  If your child’s tryout is at 7:30am please have them to school by 7:25 so they do not miss the announcement.  Please remember- trying out does not guarantee your child a spot on the team.  Our coaches have the difficult task of choosing only 4 students for each tea, so be there, be prepared and be AWESOME!  Best of luck to all of our little Cougs!

SEE YOU AT THE POLE:  SYATP is on the 4th Wednesday of each September.  We invite our students to gather on the back turf at 7:00am on Wednesday, September 24th in support of this national student-led, student-initiated prayer movement.

GT INFORMATIONAL MEETING:  Parents interested in learning more about the CSISD Gifted and Talented program are invited to join us on Tuesday, September 30th from 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Elementary School GT room (103).  This meeting is for prospective parents whose child(ren) does not already participate in GT services.

CSE TITLE 1 MEETINGS:  We would love for the China Spring community to join us on September 30th at 9:00am or October 6th at 6:00pm at the Administration Building to learn more about how families, school staff, and students come together to share the responsibility of student achievement.

SOCKTOBER:  Be a superhero by being a sockhero!  Children’s Advocacy Center and Family Abuse Center needs our help!  During the entire month of October CSE is participating in “Socktober” by collecting socks in our Character Education class for these organizations.  Have your student bring NEW socks to the Character Ed. Room and turn into their class box.  The class that brings the most pairs of socks in each grade level will win a root beer float party!  Donations will be accepted until October 28th.

WESTERN DAY:  Yeee-hawww!  To celebrate the opening of the HOT Fair and Rodeo students may wear their best western get-up on Wednesday, October 1st.  Please remember to send tennis shoes for PE on this day if your student is wearing their boots.

FALL PICTURE DAY:  Fall picture day is Thursday, October 2ndThis year China Spring Elementary will be using Photo Texas as our picture vendor instead of LifeTouch.  Please be on the lookout for a flyer in your student’s backpack so that you may set up the appropriate account to access and order your students school pictures.
