Happenings:

4TH GRADE TOURS OF CS INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL:  On Monday, May 18th our 4th graders will visit the Intermediate school.  They will receive a tour of the campus and enjoy a brief assembly with Dr. Jackson and staff.  Tours will begin at 9:00am and the last tour will conclude and all students will be on campus at CSE by 11:00am.  This tour is for students only.  Parents will have an opportunity to view the campus in August.


COUGAR OLYMPICS:  Cougar Olympics will take place on Tuesday, May 19th and Wednesday, May 20th.  Please make sure your student comes prepared in athletic clothes, tennis shoes, and with a water bottle.  Each grade will participate in their Olympic events at the times listed below…

2nd Grade: Tuesday, May 19th, 8:20am-10:30am

3rd Grade: Wednesday, May 20th, 8:20am-10:30am

4th Grade: Tuesday, May 19th, 1:05pm-3:15pm

 2ND GRADE WACO CULTURAL FIELD TRIP:  Second graders will be taking a field trip to places around Waco on Wednesday, May 20th.  On this trip, students will have the opportunity to explore three major Waco landmarks and learn about how Waco has changed over time.  We will visit Indian Spring Park, Ms. Nellie’s Pretty Place (Cameron Park), and the Magnolia Silos. 

 

Buses will depart the school at 9:00am and return at 2:30pm.  Students will need to pack a sack lunch (packed in a gallon ziplock bag) or pre-order one from the Cafeteria. 

 

This trip is free of charge to students.  Please do not sent money with your child, as we will be unable to purchase anything while at the locations. 

 

Parents are welcome to join us as long as they are on the District’s approved volunteer list.  If you have any questions please reach out directly to your student’s teacher.


3rd GRADE FIELD TRIP:  Third grade will be taking a field trip to Waco Wetlands on Tuesday, May 26th and Wednesday, May 27th.   Due to the number of students in third grade we will go on two separate days.  The date for your child’s field trip is listed with their teacher below.  On this field trip students will have the opportunity to tour the Waco Wetlands, experience local plants and wildlife and see why our environment needs wetlands.

 

GROUP 1: Farnum, Oats, Roe, Gallagher & Roberts ~ Tuesday, May 26th

GROUP 2: Dill, Schiller, Guinn & Meyer ~ Wednesday, May 27th

 

We will load buses at 8:15am and will be returning to school by 11:45am.  Therefore, we will be eating lunch at school.  However, please send labeled perishable water bottles and a snack for your child. 

 

All parents are welcome to attend, if on the district’s approved volunteer list.  Parents may check out ONLY their own child from the field trip.


FINAL REPORT CARDS:  Final report cards will be posted on Parent Portal by the end of day on Wednesday, May 27th.


2ND GRADE MARKET DAY:  2nd grade will be hosting their Annual Market Day – a fun, hands-on experience that allow students to practice buying, selling, saving, and spending money.  Market Day will take place on Wednesday, May 27th.

 

During this event, students will sell products they’ve created to their classmates using fake money provided by the school.  Each student should create 25 of the same item to sell in their “store.”  Please send all necessary materials to school by Thursday, May 14th so we have plenty of time to complete the products in class.  (Some simple ideas… bracelets, paper air planes, bookmarks, stress balls, etc.)

4TH GRADE SPLASH DAY CAMP FIMFO FIELD TRIP:  We are excited to celebrate the end of the year and 4th Grade’s transition to the Intermediate School on Thursday, May 28th at Camp Fimfo!

 

Students will leave campus at approximately 9:30am and return to school at 1:30pm.  Students will need to bring a sack lunch or pre-order one from the cafeteria.  They will also need to bring a towel, sunscreen, and water bottle. 

 

DRESS CODE:  Students MUST wear their splash day shirt with their swim suit at all times.  Girls are required to wear shorts over their swimsuits.  Students may wear hats.  Students can wear flipflops, but may want tennis shoes for other activities.  Please bring a change of clothes.

 

**If your child is not a great swimmer please send a life jacket. 

 

**Please note, if your student served in ISS or was placed in DAEP they cannot attend this field trip.

 

Parents may attend the party, but no siblings please.  Parents who attend will need to be on the District’s approved volunteer list.  Parents will also need to prepay for entry with their child’s homeroom teacher.  The cost for parents will be $10.  A wrist band will be sent home once payment is received.  Parents will be required to wear the wristband to the party.  Parents may sign out ONLY their student with their homeroom teacher after the party.  Parents may NOT sign out any other student but their own.

ACADEMIC AWARD CEREMONIES:  To celebrate our student’s academic success this year we will be hosting our Annual Academic Award Ceremonies on Thursday, May 28th and Friday, May 29th, in the gym.  If your student will be receiving an award a personal invitation will be sent home in the next few weeks.

 

2nd Grade:  Thursday, May 28th ~ 9:00am-9:30am.

3rd Grade: Thursday, May 28th ~ 10:15am-10:45am.

4th Grade:  Friday, May 29th ~ 8:45am-9:30am.


END OF YEAR CLASS PARTIES:  2nd and 3rd Grade classes will be hosting end of the year parties in their rooms on the last day of school on Friday, May 29th.  Due to limited space, we ask that a limit of 2 guests and no siblings attend.   Parents may check out ONLY their student after the party with their teacher.

 

2nd Grade:  10:00am-10:30am

3rd Grade: 11:00am-11:30am

4th Grade :  Will not have an end of year party, the Splash Day Field Trip at Camp Fimfo is happening in lieu of the party.

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION:

90% Law:  The state of Texas requires students to be present 90% of the school year in order to receive credit for their current grade level.

 

Attendance is taken every day at 9:30am.  Your student must be on campus at this time to be counted present for the day.

 

When absent: Only 4 days total per semester can be excused by a PARENT NOTE (parent signed excuse).  For all absences exceeding 4, a doctor’s note or other formal documentation is required.  All excuse notes must be turned in to the Front Office within 3 school days of the student’s absence.

25-26 BELL SCHEDULE:

The duration of our instructional school day is 7:55am-3:55pm.  Campus opens at 7:00am to begin car rider drop off.  Breakfast will be available for students from 7:00am-7:50am.  The first instructional bell rings at 7:55am.  The tardy bell rings at 8:00am.  Every 3 tardies count as a student absence. 


TRANSPORTATION PROCEDURES:

MORNING CAR RIDERS:  Car rider lines open at 7:00am.  Please use the car rider loops in the back of the school for morning drop-off.  Students are NOT allowed to be dropped off in the front of the school until after the car rider barriers are in place at 7:45am.

 

AFTERNOON CAR RIDERS:  In the afternoon car rider line, a SCHOOL-ISSUED car rider sign is required.  If the sign is not visible to the staff calling names you will be asked to go to the Front Office to check your student out with an ID.

 

BUS RIDERS:  For safety, students are only allowed to ride their assigned bus.  They are not allowed to ride home with another student.

 

CSISD District bus policy ~ any student 2nd grade or younger must have a parent or guardian at the bus stop in the afternoon.  If a parent or guardian is not present the student will be brought back to the school upon completion of the route for the parent/guardian to pick up.

 

EARLY DISMISSAL:  If you wish to pick your student up early form school you must do so BEFORE 3:30PM.  A photo ID will be required to check your student out – please note a change from last year, our computer system now requires your ID be SCANNED every time you pick up your child for early dismissal.

 

TRANSPORTATION CHANGE:  If there is a change to your child’s normal mode of transportation in the afternoon, you must notify the Front Office by 2:30pm to ensure they get home as requested.


CAFETERIA INFORMATION:

BREAKFAST:  Breakfast takes place from 7:00am-7:50am.  In order for your student to receive breakfast service in the cafeteria, they must arrive to school prior to 7:45am.

 

LUNCH:  2nd Grade Lunch ~ 11:00am-11:40am ;  3rd Grade Lunch ~ 11:45am-12:15pm ; 4th Grade Lunch ~ 12:20pm-12:50pm.

 

If you wish to eat lunch with your student a photo ID is required to check-in at the front office.  Only visitors on the student’s contact list will be permitted. You may not have other students join you at the visitor’s table unless you are also on their approved visitor list.

 

If you wish to drop off food for your student to be delivered to the “cafeteria pick-up table” by the Front Office please make sure it is labeled with their first and last name and teacher name.  It is also helpful if the student is aware ahead of time that they will have lunch waiting for them to grab from the pick-up table.

 

DELIVERIES FROM THIRD PARTY VENDORS LIKE DOORDASH AND GRUBHUB ARE NOT PERMITTED.

 

*Please note: ONLY 3rd and 4th Grade is permitted to use the microwaves during lunch.  Students must be able to microwave their own food without assistancePlease make sure food is sent in microwavable containers (no glass).


    NURSE’S NOTES:

·      If your child has medications with me, please pick them up by the last day of school, 5/29/2026.  All medications left after the last day, WILL BE DISCARDED.

·      Controlled medications MUST be picked up by an adult and cannot be sent home with a student.

·      Please be sure to pick up all Epi-Pens, Inhalers/Spacers and Nebulizers as I know these are expensive and would hate to have to throw them away.

 

Reminder for next school year:

·      All prescription medications for next year will require a NEW doctor’s order on file with the nurse office for the new school year.

·      If your child’s vaccine exemption form is due over the summer, I have already called to inform you.  Please turn this into the office prior to the first day of school.  If the new form isn’t turned in prior to the first day of school your student will not be able to start school on August 3rd.


    FROM THE PE COACHES:

A friendly reminder that students are required to have tennis shoes EVERY day for PE.  Students cannot participate in PE activities while wearing sandals, crocs, boots, or UGGS.  This is for their safety, as well as the safety of their classmates.  If they choose to wear one of the above listed types of footwear please be sure they pack a pair of tennis shoes to change into.  Students who do not wear tennis shoes will be required to sit out.


    CSISD PERSONAL DEVICE POLICY:

In compliance with the new state law and expanding on current personal device policy, China Spring ISD has updated the cell phone and smart device policy for the 25-26 school year.  The new rules apply to all personal devices, including cell phones, smart watches, and any other communication devices not issued by the district.  Students may still bring these devices to school, but they must be turned off and stored in backpacks or lockers for the entire school day.  Students may only use devices after the dismissal bell.
